The winner of the Photo contest of June has been selected by the committee. We are glad to announce that the unique picture made by Muhammet Cihat Çiftçi from Ankara, Turkey, has one the final month of the Photo Contest. His picture was ‘elevating’ in every sense of the word, which fits perfectly to what we expect for the Congress. .

Now that all monthly winners have been selected the Photo Contest committee will deliberate long and hard as to who will be selected as the overall winner. We are truly happy with the sheer amount and quality of the contributions, for this we wish to thank all individuals who submitted a photo. We hope you enjoyed this just as much as we did.

The Photo contest committee is glad to announce its winner for the month of May.

We would like to congratulate Laura Sperl from Jena in Germany for her mind-boggling photo .
The picture has already sparked a few discussion among the Photo contest Committee about how it was actually made (hint: it requires long exposure photography).

Now that we Congress is fast approaching, we are delighted to present to you our show act for the Congress dinner.
During the Congress dinner we will be celebrating 50 years of FEPSAC with some special guests: The BASES Bank from the UK, with special guest star Christian Felix Benning (Germany) on drums.

The BASES Band will play some smooth dinner jazz early during the early part of the evening. This will be followed by a livelier set of pop and soul classics before handing over to our DJ.

We are glad to inform you that it is only 50 days to go the 50th anniversary of FEPSAC, which will be celebrated in style during the FEPSAC Congress in Münster.

Attendees who wish to register for the ‘Standard’ fee have time until June 1, after which the fee prices change. More information regarding the Congress fee can be found here.

We also want to use this news update to strongly recommend attendees who have not yet booked accommodations to do so, as certain venues have limited rooms available. Be sure to check out our accommodation page for our wide range of suggestions.

Finally, we are glad to say that the scientific program has been made available online and can be found here.

We are happy to announce that the congress program at FEPSAC 2019 has been awarded even more Continuing Education Credits by the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), the German Society of Sport Psychology (asp) and the American Psychology Association (APA). All three associations approved credits depending on their respective system for re-certification.
For AASP, conference attendance will be worth 12 CEUs, an Ethics Panels and the ISSP Symposium on Supervision/Mentorship will each be worth 1.5 CEUs. Also, for attending the pre-congress workshops on Mindfulness ad Sport Psychology for Coaches 4 additional CEUs can be earned.
The German Society of Sport Psychology in association with the German Federal Institute of Sport Science has approved credits for the two respective applied pre-congress (5 CE) and 12 congress (2 CE) workshops. Also, APA has approved credits for those same applied pre-congress (4 CE) and congress (1.5 CE) workshops.

As you see, a continuing education program meeting the high expectations of multiple international associations is waiting for you in Münster!

For sport psychology practitioners interested in earning Continuing Education (CE) Credits for re-certification with their respective organizations or associations, attending FEPSAC 2019 just became even more interesting. The local organizing committee has been working diligently with leading international sport psychology associations that offer certification programs and is happy that their applications have been successful.

As of April 30, the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) has confirmed that Certified Mental Performance Consultants (CMPCs) will be able to earn CEUs at FEPSC 2019. Conference attendance will be worth 12 CEUs for CMPC when renewing their certification. One panel discussion on ethics, one on diversity and the Invited ISSP Symposium on supervision/mentorship will each be worth 1.5 CEUs. Approval of CEUs for the two applied pre-congress workshops (Mindfulness & Sport Psychology for Coaches) is still pending.
Also, the German Society of Sport Psychology in association with the German Federal Institute of Sport Science has approved CE credits for 14 of the applied congress workshops.

The FEPSAC Congress in Münster will start soon, only 2 more months left. We are happy that you’re interested in joining this big event, as well as seeing the lovely city of Münster.
We can inform you that PSE (Psychology of Sport and Exercise, Elsevier) just published a Special Issue related to this special anniversary:
50 years of FEPSAC: Current and future directions to sport and exercise psychology research.
This Special Issue has been edited by Nikos Ntoumanis and Bernd Strauss.

For this special issue, the two editors have included 17 reviews (plus an Editorial, an Introduction, and a Preface written by the FEPSAC MC) based on some of the most influential topics in sport and exercise psychology, led by invited leading scholars. (See below)

Now that it is less than 100 days to the FEPSAC 2019 Congress, certain pre-congress workshops are fully booked.
Luckily there are still a few places available for the following workshops:

  • Structural equation modeling
  • Open Science
  • Scientific career
  • Workshop on Providing Sport Psychology Services for Coaches

In addition, it is also possible to join the two symposia.

  • The Science and Practice of Sports Officiating Symposium focuses on two selected topics of current interest: career development and striving for excellence. Corresponding research will be presented by leading experts in the field. In addition, possible future efforts to improve scientific exchange and research funding in this area will be discussed by an expert panel.
  • The Perceptual-motor expertise Symposium focuses on emerging topics and new trends that are likely to play an important role in future research in perceptual-motor expertise. This symposium will feature prominent international speakers including: Mark Williams (University of Utah, United States), Geert Savelsbergh (VU Amsterdam, The Netherlands), Damian Farrow (Victoria University, Australia), Nicola Hodges (University of British Columbia, Canada).

We welcome abstract for the Symposium of Dr. Plessner (“Science and Practice of Sports Officiating”) and Dr. Mann and Dr. Cañal-Bruland (“Perceptual-motor expertise”). The deadline for abstract submission is the 31st of March, 2019 (23:59 CET, Berlin).

We are currently working hard in collaboration with CoreApps on developing an accompanying app for the FEPSAC 2019 Congress.
The app will launch in both the Google PlayStore and the Apple AppStore before the start of the Congress and will work on both mobile phones and tablets.
This app will contain information regarding the program, keynotes, abstracts, sponsors, and much more.

Now that we have received so many submissions for the 2019 FEPSAC Congress we would recommend all participants to book a room.We have reserved a wide-variety of hotels ranging in distance to the Congress grounds and costs. Have a look at all the lovely hotels that Münster has to offer here. More information regarding the accommodation and travel possibilities in Münster can be found here.

Students from the University will organize a low budget accommodation in the sport facilities of the university with a small breakfast. Contact the Congress team (lowbudget.fepsac2019@uni-muenster.de) for information about the reservation. First come, first serve – spots are limited.

We have collected and organised all abstracts and we are exuberant to report that we have received over 900 submissions! This is going to be an immense congress!
The abstracts will be sent to the reviewers this week, their feedback, together with a ‘Notification of Acceptance’ will be made available in the first week of March (1-7 March, 2019).

The organization committee is happy to inform you that we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of FEPSAC in a grand fashion. The FEPSAC 2019 Congress in Münster is on its way to becoming the largest FEPSAC Congress ever after having received over 900 submissions!
All these submissions will be sent out to the reviewers as soon as possible.

November marks the first month of the FEPSAC Photo Contest.

Please send your photos showing your FEPSAC spirit to fepsac@uni-muenster.de (E-Mail subject: PHOTO CONTEST). To enhance your picture we recommend using your very own FEPSAC flyer which you can download and print here.

From November to Juni 2019, the Photo contest committee will pick one monthly winner from all entries, this winner will be awarded €50 and will be exhibited prominently on the Photo contest page and during the FEPSAC 2019 Congress!
In addition, the overall winner being awarded with an addition €50!

The Managing Council (MC) of the European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC) has the pleasure of announcing that the next FEPSAC General Assembly (GA) will be organised on July 16, 2019 during the FEPSAC 2019 European Congress of Sport Psychology in Münster, Germany. Individual members who have paid their membership fee for at least 2018 and 2019 (as confirmed by the Treasurer), and group members who have paid their membership fee for 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 (as confirmed by the Treasurer) will receive an invitation before April 15, 2019 to attend the GA; the agenda for the GA will be sent out June 15, 2019 the latest. The announcement (including time and place) of the GA will also be posted here and on the 2019 European Congress of Sport Psychology website and via social media. Members are invited to email agenda proposals for the GA to office@fepsac.com no later than May 15, 2019.

We are very happy to announce a special format present at the FEPSAC 2019 Congress – the Science Slam. This event will take place on Tuesday, July 16, from 7 p.m. in the Schloss. Up to five finalists, selected from all Science Slam contributions, will have the opportunity to convince our prominent Science Slam jury: Andrea Petroczi (Chair), Alan Smith, Claudia Voelcker-Rehage, Diane Ste-Marie, Yu Kai Chang and Stuart Biddle.

All Science Slam finalists will be awarded with 250 Euros, while the winner will receive a total of 1.500 Euros.

It is possible to already register for the Congress and receive our Congress Newsletter and submitting your abstract and payment on a later date, both have to be completed before the deadline for abstract submission.
